Go Bold With Patterned Bathroom Tiles

Each week, Mansion Global tackles a topic with an elite group of designers from around the world who work on luxury properties. This week, we look at designing with patterned bathroom tiles.

While countless baths feature unfussy backdrops, more bathrooms are embracing patterns––and through tile. Tile can be as attractive as it is functional, and much like a collectible piece of art, handmade rug or decorative wallpaper, it can spruce up an otherwise lifeless room. Designers select patterned tiles for floors, showers, accent walls and backsplashes, adding panache to baths.

“There are many types of patterned tile available, from ceramic

A Special David Netto Creation

Interior designer David Netto and architect David Hottenroth teamed up to create the beach retreat in which this bedroom is located. In this kids’ room, a Room & Board bunk bed, toile curtains, and a portrait of an owner’s grandfather can’t help but stand out. The vintage Poul Kjærholm armchairs are from Dansk Møbelkunst Gallery.

Three Designers Share How Religion Influences Their Decor

In the house I grew up in, just about every bedroom has a religious icon hanging on its walls. In Greek, we refer to these images as εικόνα (which is where the word “icon” comes from) and we view these works as a form of protection and safety in our culture. Many icons used by Greek Orthodox Christians are made in Greece and passed down from one generation to the next, and they often display portraits of the Virgin Mary, Jesus, both figures, or saints. The one in my bedroom—a handmade sterling silver creation—was a baptismal gift from my aunt

Kitchen designer Annika Rowson’s own kitchen project features a large island wrapped in Corian Witch Hazel used on the reverse side.

Designers have a wealth of knowledge and experience, so it’s always interesting to see what they choose for their own kitchens.

For Annika Rowson of Rowson Kitchens in New Plymouth, it was important to take into account the 1940s era of the family’s bungalow, which was extensively renovated.

Several interior walls were removed to open up the interior – the kitchen and dining area was widened to make the room look and feel much bigger. And

Stray bullet ricochets off Madison Twp. bathroom walls, homeowner calls incident ‘very numbing’

He filed a report with the Butler County Sheriff’s Office, posted about the incident on the township’s Facebook page, addressed his concerns recently with the Madison Twp. Board of Trustees and talked to his neighbors.

He found out that three of the four houses closest to his have been hit by stray bullets over the years.

“That was a surprise,” he said.

Wilson, 64, who shoots at the Middletown Sportsmen’s Club, wants those in the township to understand the dangers of firing weapons even in rural areas. He said some shooters may not realize the distance bullets travel and the

Conversations from the kitchen table

The kitchen table in my childhood home was actually chosen by me at 13 years old. I dragged my mom to Delia’s, the Justice of my middle-school era, while they were having a store-closing sale. The table they displayed their merch on was a white distressed wood with matching benches, and I was convinced this was the perfect replacement my mother had been looking for in our kitchen.

My mother and I loaded the table into our minivan, sawed down the legs to make it the right height and placed it in eyeshot of the front door, so you could

They say that 92 days of our lives are spent on the toilet. That’s a lot of time you could be practising your instrument in.
